Juli weitere Starts des Weltraumfliegers vom Typ Space Ship Two untersagt.

The Challenge (Russian: Вызов, romanized: Vyzov) or Doctor's House Call is an upcoming Russian space docudrama film by Klim Shipenko. It is the first feature-length fiction film shot in outer space.[1][2][3]

Plot

Cosmonaut Ivanov loses consciousness while the spacecraft is in flight. Doctors decide that it will be necessary to perform heart surgery right in zero gravity. Cardiac surgeon Zhenya, who does not have time to raise her teenage daughter, is preparing for the flight.[4]

Background and film project

On May 14, 2021, the Interagency Committee approved the composition of the ISS main and alternate crews for the period 2021-2023.[5] Cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov (commander) and the crew of the film "Challenge": actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko, will go to the ISS on the Soyuz MS-19. The drama is a joint project of Roscosmos, Channel One and the Yellow, Black and White [ru] studio.[6][7] The alternates chosen after passing the medical committee are: New Drama Theater actress Alyona Mordovina, director Alexei Dudin[8] and the commander Oleg Artemyev.[9] Since May 24 the crew members have been training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center.[10] On July 23, the prime crew participated in a four-hour simulation inside a Soyuz replica while wearing the Sokol suit[11] and on July 28, the back-up crew completed the same exercise. According to the Commander, Oleg Artemyev the performance of the two back-up Spaceflight Participants was outstanding. [12] On July 30, the spacecraft had its pre-launch preparation started.[13] On August 31 the medical committee announced that both the main and reserve crew were healthy for space flight.[14]

It is planned that the director and actress will return to Earth on October 17, 2021 on Soyuz MS-18, with Commander Oleg Novitskiy. Cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov and astronaut Mark Vande Hei, who arrived at the ISS on Soyuz MS-18, will join Shkaplerov on the landing of Soyuz MS-19.[15][16] Soyuz MS-19 is scheduled to land on March 28, 2022.[17]

Creation

About 3 thousand applications were submitted for the main role, the number of which was reduced to 20-30, after which Peresild was chosen.[4]
The ISS where a portion of the production takes place

To prepare for filming, Klim Shipenko trained intensively, dropping 15 kilograms of weight. In flight, he himself will perform the functions of an operator, make-up artist and production designer.[4] Anton Shkaplerov will become the ship's commander, while Shipenko and Peresild will fly in the status of spaceflight participants. The backup crew is cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev , cameraman Alexei Dudin and actress Alyona Mordovina.[18]

It is planned that the footage filmed in space will be approximately 35 minutes of the final timing of the film.[4]

According to Ernst , the motivation of the filmmakers is to confirm Russia's leadership in the space sector, to restore the prestige of the cosmonaut profession in the eyes of the younger generation (Yulia Peresild did not dream of space flights as a child).[4] The unique experience of express training for non-professional flight may subsequently be useful for the real need to send scientists or doctors into space.[18]

Klim Shipenko will have to shoot about 35-40 minutes of film on the ISS, as well as taking on the position of director, operator, art director, and makeup artist. Oleg Novitsky and Peter Dubrov will appear in the film,[19] with Dubrov and Mark Vande Hei assisting in the production.[20] Shkaplerov will appear in some scenes of the movie.[21]

The height of pop-culture awareness for the crew of the Swinetrek occurred in 1981. As part of NASA's morning wake-up call tradition, by which the crew of the space shuttle are awakened with stirring music, familiar song lyrics, or comedy routines in order to boost morale and encourage camaraderie between the astronauts and their mission control colleagues, the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia were greeted by Pigs in Space on two consecutive mornings. Specially recorded by the Muppet performers for this occasion, two separate comedy routines were heard, one on the morning of November 13, and another on November 14, where it followed a rendition of "Columbia, Gem of the Ocean" by a flight directorate band.

Captain James T. Kirk fliegt mit Blue Origin ins All

04.10.2021 16:12 Uhr

William Shatner soll erstmals real ins All fliegen. Der Schauspieler ist als Passagier der Mission New Shepard NS-18 von Jeff Bezos' Raumfahrtfirma Blue Origin vorgesehen, die am 12. Oktober starten soll.

Salyut-7 – Tödlicher Wettlauf im All (Originaltitel: Салют-7) ist ein russischer Film des Regisseurs Klim Schipenko aus dem Jahr 2017.

Juni 2018
The recently-released Russian film, Salyut 7, is sold as that nation’s equivalent to Apollo 13, but falls somewhere in the middle – at once portraying real-life events with startling accuracy and beauty, but also having moments that are completely over-the-top insane to the point of hilarity. … But enough of the plot line, because soon it won’t even make sense or really matter. One of the best things about Salyut 7 is its realistic depiction of what the dead space station must have looked like to Dzhanibekov and Savinykh upon first entry: all surfaces are covered in ice and “snow,” and the juxtaposition of the twinkly, icy/wet surfaces against Soviet-era space technology is quite breathtaking. The visual and practical effects are stunning, and Salyut 7 is a beautiful film. Also, as someone who has very little first-hand knowledge of what the Soviet era was like, the film’s depiction of mid-1980s Soviet life is eye-opening. But back to the good parts: after a completely unbelievable docking sequence, the crew tries to resuscitate the space station, to little effect.

Hier übrigens der dt. Trailer.

Tom Cruise officially going to space in 2021 for new film

Ian Biong

Inquirer.net/Asia News Network / Thu, September 24, 2020 / 07:06 pm

Tom Cruise will officially be going to space in October 2021 to shoot a still-untitled film helmed by Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman.

Months after reports came that Cruise was working alongside SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), it has been confirmed that the Hollywood star will be part of a launch next year.

Space Shuttle Almanac took to its official Twitter account on Sept. 19 to share the 2020 to 2023 International Space Station (ISS) manifest, which includes Cruise and Liman’s launch as part of the “SpaceX Crew Dragon Axiom Tourist Flight”.

The manifest shows that Cruise and Liman, labeled as Tourist 1 and 2, will be joined by Space X pilot Michael Lopez-Alegria, while the slot for Tourist 3 is still open, which could be filled by a cameraman or another actor.

Cruise and team will be filming aboard the ISS, NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine revealed last May 6. The upcoming film will be the first movie ever to be shot in space if it goes through as planned.

The film is reported to be a $200-million Universal project, according to Deadline on July 30. No other details about the film have been revealed, as of this writing.

Space race 2: Russian actor bound for ISS in same month as Tom Cruise

Hollywood star is aiming to be first to shoot a feature film in space, but Russia has launched rival bid

The space race appears set for a relaunch following the news that Russia is to send an actor and director to the International Space Station in October, with the ambition of making the first feature film in space.

The crew are scheduled to begin their expedition on 5 October 2021. While on the space station they could encounter some fellow film-makers: Tom Cruise and the director Doug Liman, who are also due to travel there in October to make a movie.

The exact date of Cruise’s blastoff has not yet been revealed, but the departure of the Russians in the first few days of the month suggests an intention to beat the Americans.

Russia was first reported to be mounting a rival production last year, shortly after plans were confirmed last summer for Cruise, who will be 59 at the time of his mission, to go into low Earth orbit, backed by Nasa and Elon Musk.

Soyuz MS-19 launches film crew to Station amid tightened Russian space reporting regulations

The Soyuz MS-19 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) lifted off at 08:55 UTC (04:55 EDT) on Tuesday, October 5 from Site 31/6 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, before docking after a two-orbit rendezvous – albeit after another troublesome docking, requiring manual control to complete the arrival.

The mission delivered one new Russian ISS crewmember for a six-month stay as well as an actress and director who will film the movie The Challenge. The mission is the first to launch under strict new regulations enacted last week by the Russian FSB (Federal Security Service) which essentially forbids its citizens from reporting on the Russian space program outside of Russia, less that person then be classified as a “foreign agent.”
...
Roughly 35-40 minutes of footage for The Challenge will be filmed on the ISS per Russian media reports. Anton Shkaplerov as well as Pyotr Dubrov and Oleg Novitskiy, the two Russian cosmonauts currently on the station, will appear in the film as well. NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei will assist with the production — per Russian media.

Differing plots have been reported, with some indicating the film centers around a medical emergency requiring heart surgery in microgravity while others are vaguer — indicating a fast training period to perform surgery on a cosmonaut whose condition prevents a return to Earth.

Chalking up a space first of sorts, a Russian actress, her director-cameraman and a veteran cosmonaut rocketed into orbit, chased down the International Space Station and successfully docked Tuesday, setting the stage for an out-of-this-world movie shoot.

Wearing a bright red flight suit, Yulia Peresild, who will play the role of a surgeon making an emergency house call to the station in the movie “The Challenge,” was all smiles floating into the lab complex, telling Russian television viewers she felt like she was dreaming.

“Everything was new to us today, every 30 seconds brought something entirely new,” she said during a brief video conference from the Russian Zvezda module. “We just met the rest of the crew, the cosmonauts and astronauts who’ve been living on board the station for some time now. But I’m still in a dream.

“I still feel that it’s all just a dream and I am asleep,” she marveled. “It’s almost impossible to believe this all came to reality.”

Added her director, Klim Shipenko: “It was incredible. It was hard, but it was great to arrive on board the station. We were met by friends.”

Zitat
The Russians frequently mention Tom Cruise when discussing their mission, citing widely reported but unsubstantiated claims the American actor is planning a similar trip.

“There was certain competitiveness involved,” Shipenko said in a translation provided by Channel One Russia. “It was making us speed up the production, the preparation process. Having a strong opponent you can compete with really matters. The fact that Tom Cruise is keen on his space project made him a strong competitor.”

NASA officials say no such visit to the space station is currently in the planning stages.

Jeff Bezos’ spaceflight company Blue Origin said Sunday it will postpone the flight that is slated to fly William Shatner to space due to forecasted high winds at its launch site. The flight of the company’s New Shepard spacecraft is now scheduled for 9:30AM ET on October 13th, a day later than originally planned. It’s targeted to lift off from Blue Origin’s Launch Site One in Texas.

A statement on Blue Origin’s website said New Shepard NS-18 has met all mission requirements, and the astronauts have started their training. “Weather is the only gating factor for the launch window,” according to the statement, which is signed with the company motto “Gradatim Ferociter” (Latin for “step by step, ferociously”).

Soyuz MS-18 set for undocking and landing

Cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky and spaceflight participants Yulia Peresild and Klim Shipenko will return to Earth with a landing in Kazakhstan on Sunday, completing the Soyuz MS-18 mission.

The three-person landing crew is scheduled to undock from the nadir port on the Nauka Multipurpose Laboratory Module (MLM) at 01:13 UTC. Landing is scheduled for 04:36 UTC.

Peresild and Shipenko arrived at the ISS on October 5 along with Roscosmos cosmonaut Anton Skaplerov on Soyuz MS-19. Both Peresild and Shipenko have made the trip to the station as spaceflight participants to film scenes for a future Russian movie called “The Challenge.”

For the film, Shipenko has the role of director, while Peresild is the lead actress. Scenes for the movie were filmed on both the Russian and international segments of the ISS, including the Cupola module.

After saying goodbye to the current crew on the ISS, Peresild, Shipenko, and Novitsky will enter Soyuz MS-18 and the hatches on both the Soyuz and Nauka will be closed. Then, the crew will get into their Sokol launch and entry suits and will wear them until after landing.

Novitsky, as the commander of the spacecraft, will then command the spacecraft to open the hooks located around the docking ring on the orbital module. These hooks are designed to keep the spacecraft and the station attached.

Springs will then push the Soyuz away from the station with a velocity change of around 0.12 m/s.

With the undocking of Soyuz MS-18, Expedition 66 will officially start on the station. French astronaut Thomas Pesquet of the European Space Agency (ESA) is currently the commander of the station.

Musk says Starship may be ready for orbital launch next month, but FAA review continues

Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of SpaceX, said Friday the company’s huge new Starship rocket could be ready for its first orbital test launch from South Texas as soon as November, but the schedule comes with two big uncertainties that may push the launch to next year.

“If all goes well, Starship will be ready for its first orbital launch attempt next month, pending regulatory approval,” Musk tweeted.

The new schedule update from Musk came the day after SpaceX test-fired the newest Starship vehicle, known as Ship 20 or SN20, at the company’s development facility near Boca Chica Beach east of Brownsville, Texas. A vacuum-rated Raptor engine, similar to the engines Starship will use in space, ignited for several seconds on a launching stand at SpaceX’s Starbase complex Thursday night.

Unlike the Starship prototypes flown on the recent atmospheric hops, Ship 20 is covered in thousands of heat-resistant tiles to protect the craft’s stainless steel structure from the scorching heat it will encounter during re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere.

Although SpaceX has moved forward with great speed at Boca Chica, the chances of the Super Heavy and Starship vehicles being ready for flight next month are uncertain. Musk often sets aspirational schedule goals, and in September 2019 said he wanted to attempt the first orbital launch attempt with Starship within six months.

Another schedule hurdle might be the Federal Aviation Administration, which is reviewing the environmental impacts of SpaceX’s operations in South Texas. The FAA issued a draft environmental report last month after consultation with several federal and state agencies.

NASA targets February launch for Artemis 1 moon mission

With NASA’s powerful new 322-foot-tall moon rocket fully stacked at Kennedy Space Center, managers said Friday that Feb. 12 is the soonest the unpiloted Artemis 1 mission could blast off toward lunar orbit, a date that hinges on the outcome of a critical fueling test on the launch pad in January.

Ground teams at Kennedy this week installed an Orion crew capsule atop the Space Launch System rocket inside the Vehicle Assembly Building. The stacking milestone capped off the 322-foot-tall (98-meter) rocket inside High Bay 3.

“Completing stacking is a really important milestone,” said Mike Sarafin, NASA’s Artemis 1 mission manager. “It shows that we’re in the home stretch toward the mission.”

The mission, called Artemis 1, will send the Orion spacecraft to the moon, where it will enter a distant orbit in a multi-week, unpiloted “shakedown cruise” to demonstrate the SLS rocket and Orion are ready to carry astronauts. The next mission, known as Artemis 2, will send a crew of four around the moon and back to Earth, paving the way for future lunar landing flights.

Ach du grüne Neune.

Zitat von Mon, Oct 25 2021 12:15 PM EDT Updated 43 Min Ago
WASHINGTON – Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin on Monday unveiled its plan for a private space station called “Orbital Reef,” which it will build in partnership with multiple space companies and expects to deploy between 2025 and 2030.

Blue Origin describes the Orbital Reef station, which would be habitable for up to 10 people, as a “mixed use business park” in space – as well as capable of “exotic hospitality” for space tourists.

Ocean Reef is designed to have almost as much habitable volume as the International Space Station.

The company’s primary partner for the station is Sierra Space, a subsidiary of aerospace contractor Sierra Nevada Corporation, with the team also including Boeing, Redwire Space, and Genesis Engineering.

“We’re just beginning to understand the tremendous implications that microgravity research, development and manufacturing can mean, for not only for exploring the universe and making discoveries but improving life on Earth,” Redwire executive vice president Mike Gold told CNBC.
...
Bezos has personally increased his involvement at Blue Origin, after he stepped down as the CEO of Amazon this summer. While the company has had success with its suborbital New Shepard rocket, having flown two successful crewed flights to date, Blue Origin has come under scrutiny due to soaring employee turnover and allegations of safety issues, as well as a “toxic” work culture, by former employees.

Blue Origin has teamed up with other major space companies before, having partnered with Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Draper to build a crewed lunar lander for NASA’s HLS program.

However, while the Blue Origin-led team won a $579 million award for early development, it lost the following $2.9 billion contract to Elon Musk’s SpaceX earlier this year. Blue Origin has since taken NASA to court, filing a lawsuit against the space agency to reverse the lunar lander award.

With NASA planning to retire the International Space Station by the end of the decade, the CLD program represents an effort to turn to private companies for new space stations – with the space agency expecting to save more than $1 billion annually as a result.

“We are in a second golden age of space exploration and development,” Redwire’s Gold said.

Last week, another private space station was announced by a separate team of companies: Nanoracks, Voyager Space, and Lockheed Martin are building a station called Starlab, which plans to be operational by 2027.

Starlab is designed to be crewed by up to four astronauts, with about a third of the volume of the ISS.

Der tatsächliche Nutzwert solcher Flüge in Sachen von "...for exploring the universe and making discoveries but improving life on Earth" dürfte bei exakt Null liegen.

From space, national boundaries vanish; the conflicts that divide people become less important.")

https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/multimedia/raw-images/

Zitat
My mother went into labor early in the summer of 2050, when half of the Americas and a good portion of southern Europe were on fire. All the drought, and so much heat, they said. The icebergs had melted too much, the transportation industry was still using too many fossil fuels, and so on. ... By the time I got to university, arboriculture was a dying art. Earth’s remaining trees were precious, but there were just too few of them to need many arborists. I had to go all the way to the University of Tennessee, in the United States. After graduation, I ended up in Brazil with the rest of our dwindling industry, trying to stop the mass extinction process there in the Amazon. But it was like trying to save a car crash victim with a Band-Aid. I have never felt wind so hot and sweltering as there, with sun that could sear your flesh through clothes—even in muggy Tennessee. ... By that point, early 2113, Nordmarka was the last forest remaining in the world, and had been for some time. The Valdivian Rainforest in Argentina and Chile, the Miombo Woodlands in central Africa, Arashiyama Grove in Japan, all gone. We’d heard that in the hermetically sealed biovaults in the New Tsimshian Collective in former western Canada, there were a handful of lab-grown saplings struggling to put down roots in the synthetically enhanced soil substitute the Tsimshian botanists were trying to perfect, but they always curled inward and died a few years after germination. Outside their vaults, the last scattered wild specimens that had survived whatever killed their forests had also slowly weakened and shriveled to husks.

"German astronaut to become 600th person to fly into space"

Zitat von Spaceflight Now, 27. Okt. 2021
Astronauts Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn, Matthias Maurer, and Kayla Barron flew from their home base in Houston to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Tuesday to begin their final few days of launch preparations before blasting off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket for the International Space Station Sunday.

Three of the crew members — Chari, Maurer, and Barron — are first-time space fliers. Maurer, a German-born European Space Agency astronaut, will be the 600th person to fly into space, according to NASA statistics.

Chari will be the 599th, and Barron will be the 601st person to reach space since 1961, when Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin launched into orbit at the beginning of the Space Age.

“I was the lucky one that got the round number, but we will all have fun in space,” Maurer said Tuesday after arriving at Kennedy aboard a NASA Gulfstream jet.

“Being No. 600 in 60 years, it makes 10 persons per year,” Maurer said. “But I think in a very few years we will see an exponential rise of that because now we’re entering the era of commercial spaceflight, and all the suborbital flights, they also count in the statistics.”

NASA’s spaceflight statistics include every person who has reached an altitude of at least 50 miles (80 kilometers), the boundary of space also recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. military. The Kármán line at an altitude of 62 miles (100 kilometers) is where space begins according to the Fédération Aéronautique International.
